Our commitment for safety and purity

The Whole Reasonā„¢ Shilajit is sourced and packed in small batches to guarantee freshness and traceability. Each jar is packed with nothing but wholesome goodness.

Our Shilajit is tested by an independent ISO-17025 certified laboratory in the US for presence of heavy metals, microbiological contaminants and a range of pesticides.

Why and how we test Shilajit

Shilajit is a rare and very expensive substance in the countries where it is found. It is said that “If Shilajit is cheap, it is not Shilajit”. In USA, the market is flooded with cheap Shilajit products that may not only not contain any amount of real Shilajit, but may actually be unsafe to consume. Therefore, it is essential to know what’s in your Shilajit.

We test every batch of our Shilajit at an ISO-17025 certified third-party laboratory in the USA. A sample from each batch goes through identification test, heavy metals test, microbiological contaminants test and aluminium test before it lands in our customer’s hands.

We use California proposition 65 standards for heavy metals as specifications for our test results. These are the strictest and most rigid standards of the naturally occurring heavy metals within USA and across the globe. It should be noted that in virtually every instance, the threshold amounts of these chemicals set by Prop 65 are 1/10th to 1/15th the levels set by international organizations and the US FDA. These amounts are so low that many healthy fruits and vegetables such as yams, turnips, apples, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, lettuce, spinach, potatoes, corn and many other fruits and vegetables would not pass the Prop 65 guidelines. Since foods are exempted from Prop 65, they do not need to carry a warning label. However once a food or herb leaves its natural state it become subject to Prop 65 for good.

WHY TEST SHILAJIT FOR ALUMINIUM?

Aluminum has a long history of being known as a neurotoxin. Shilajit collected from lower altitude is more likely to have higher amount of Aluminium when impurities add to Shilajit as it seeps down the mountain rocks. Processing Shilajit in Aluminium containers also adds Aluminium to it.

Our Shilajit is tested for Aluminium at ISO-17025 certified lab in California. The amount of Aluminium in our Shilajit is 29.65PPM (Parts Per Million), that is to say the amount of Aluminium in single serving (200mg) of our Shilajit is 0.0058mg.

Three servings of our Shilajit per day extrapolates to 0.1218mg/week of Aluminium for a 70kg person, which is significantly below the WHO’s provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI) of 140mg/week.

The Amount of Aluminium in our Shilajit is the testament to best harvesting and processing practices at The Whole Reason. Most Shilajit vendors do not test their products for Aluminium. We take pride in going any length to ensure safety of our customers.
